What is a web solution
Back HomeA web solution? What is it for? Who knows how to do it? What is it?
In order to easily go through the basics of the question, let’s look at some definitions and then go on to answer the question.
Internetis the most extensive computer network. Dating from 1972, it was initially an American military invention. This technology was opened to the general public from 1989, the end of the Cold War.
The World Wide Web, commonly called the Web, is a system of links that allow you to navigate from page to page using software called a web browser. The web has existed since 1989 and is the work of British researcher Tim Berners Lee when he worked for CERN, who himself became the director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
The web is full of tools and services that we use every day. These have been created by people who had the idea of solving one problem or another through the web using the principles, tools and techniques of web development and integration necessary for their realization.
Here are some examples of problems that have been answered:
- mail management: Gmail, Hotmail, …
- information search: Google Search, Bing, …
- democratization of access to databases: Universalis, Wikipedia, etc.
- direct communication: WhatsApp, Skype, …
- sale: Amazon, Ebay, …
- social communication: Instagram, Facebook, etc.
And the list is far from exhaustive, you probably know that better than I do. So many problems that have been answered today and so many answers related to the same problem that we are really spoiled for choice.
By providing answers to problems through the web, these people have made the web the benchmark for web tools and online services that we use every day, as the internet has become the fastest medium for remote communication. These people are individuals or legal entities who present themselves to you in the form of Freelance or Web Agency (Single or Multi-person).
All these web solutions can be classified into three categories:
- Websites,
- Web applications,
- Blogs.
While websites and blogs are by default accessible via the Internet, web applications can in some cases be restricted to the intranet of the company or organization that uses them.
- Website: are sets of linked web pages whose objective is to help publicize an activity (by means of text, images and also video). A website is very similar to a prospectus or a leaflet in the sense that it allows the Internet user to learn about information quickly, precisely, coherently and pleasantly. The website is an extension of a company because it takes on its colors, its values and its goal. It must be faithful to the image of the company and bring it added value.
- Web applications: a web application is a set of pages whose purpose is to solve a specific problem. This problem can be internal to a company/organization or public. A web application can be used to support a business in a company (Personalized personnel registration system, personalized fleet management system), it can also be intended for something more universal (Instant messaging). Web applications have constraints specific to a specific environment. When a web application is oriented towards several user profiles, it must be very flexible and take into account a large number of possibilities. If a web application is specific to a company, its constraints are then specific to this company.
- Blog: it is a tool that allows you to publish articles on topics specific to a given field, chosen by its promoter. It contains advice, event promotion, tips, personal experiences, personal opinions on hot topics, etc. Previously, it was the “News” section of company or organization sites that was used for this. From News, we moved on to blogs. So there are blogs that are part of sites and completely autonomous blogs.
A web solution is ultimately an application of computing to a real problem that will ultimately be presented in the form of linked web pages..
Depending on the type of problem your future web solution needs to solve, it could be: a website, a web application or a blog.
Overall, all web solutions are accessible on all common types of terminals: Computers, Smartphones and Tablets.
